IIST ISAT 2012 Predicted Cutoff Marks

IIST Exam was concluded on April 21, 2012. The official answer keys are now available for candidates. There were total of 75 questions in Physics, Chemistry and Maths. 2 of the questions were wrong hence will not be evaluated. Every correct question will get 3 marks. Every wrong answer will get -1 mark. The maximum marks for this exam is (3 x 73) 219 marks.


ISAT 2012 will have separate rank lists for General, OBC, SC, ST and PD. The actual cutoff for General category will be determined by the lowest score in each subject for 4740th candidate. The actual cutoff for OBC will be 90% of General and for SC/ST/PD will be 50% of General. All candidates need to have minimum cutoff for individual subjects. The actual cutoff marks for previous years is never published by IIST.

Based on the data available in IIST Site, we have arrived at the possible cutoff marks for ISAT 2012. Please note that the below marks are just estimate. Actual ranks and marks will be published by ISAT by May 23, 2012.

We calculated maximum marks for 5 cases ie, 80%, 75%, 70%, 65% and 60%. Please note maximum marks for entrance exam is 219 marks (2 wrong answers).

According to the table below the following are the predicted cutoff marks for ISAT 2012.
  • GEN - 142 to 164 marks
  • OBC - 128 to 148 marks
  • SC/ST/PD - 71 to 82 marks.
Please note candidates need to pass Class 12 with minimum percentage as written in prospectus as well as clear all subjects with a minimum mark.
